Using WyoComet

Wyo COMET (WYOming Collections Online METadata) is an online database for exploring the Wyoming State Archives Collection using finding aids and can be accessed using the following web address, https://wyocomet.wyo.gov/.

Finding aids are descriptions of archival collection that help researchers identify materials relevant to their topic.

The guides include collections and government records groups, but NOT comprehensive listings of photographs, maps, and oral histories. This site can NOT be used to search a full listing of names in all the documents in the archives.

COMET can help with:

• Identifying which collections or government record groups may be of interest for your topic
• Providing background information about and context for a collection or record group

But it CANNOT help with:

• Photos
• Maps
• Oral Histories
• Searching through a full name listing in all of the documents in the archives
